Marketing Committee Identifies Top Priorities

The committee has voted to work on three priority items.

The Marketing Committee voted to focus on three priorities at Tuesday's meeting. The committee plans to bring in business from Great Lakes naval base, work with local retail groups, and promote the village through the Internet and social media.

Subcommittees were created for each of the priority items. Each subcommittee has one month to meet, create a benchmark for themselves, and then generate key strategies and objectives for their group.

Each subcommittee is expected to present a report at July’s meeting.

Other items considered by the committee included promoting the sports complex, celebrating the 175th anniversary of the village, increasing commercial leases, and working with the Lake County Chamber and the convention and Visitors Bureau.

Members decided to ask the Special Projects Committee to work on promoting the 175th anniversary of the village.

The Marketing Committee is an advisory and working committee created almost two years ago to increase foot traffic, generate sales tax, and increase overnight stays in the village.
