Temporary Lane Closures in Libertyville Tuesday

Temporary closures scheduled on IL Route 21 and IL Route 137 as part of the road reconstruction project.

Weather permitting, one lane of Buckley Road will be closed between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday, according to a village update.

The westbound lane of IL Route 137 will be closed first, followed by closure of the eastbound lane. The closures are needed to saw cut existing pavement for the new storm sewers.

Intermittent lane closures will also be required on IL Route 21, north and south of Brookhill Road, to remove old beams of Bull Creek bridge. The closure will be between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tuesday.

, northbound and southbound lanes of Milwaukee Avenue will be pushed east at Brookhill Road to create work zone for the demolition of the west half of Bull Creek Bridge, just south of Brookhill Road, according to the village’s website.

The IDOT project will widen the highly used roadway to alleviate traffic.

. Work is now starting for the pre-staging of the second phase of the project, which includes construction of traffic lanes, putting in new curbs, gutters, sidewalks, retaining walls, retention pond and storm water improvement systems.

The $25 million project involves reconstructing the roadway, building a second lane in both directions and adding an 18-foot landscaped median along 2.2 miles. New traffic signals will be installed at Route 21 and Casey Road. Dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes in each direction will be added at Route 21 and Route 137.
