After months of discussions, the Cook Memorial Public Library District Board approved an agreement with the village of Libertyville on Tuesday to change the existing parking lot at the Cook Park branch. The village of Libertyville will have to provide indemnification for any injuries that occur due to the planned layout of Cook Park Library lot at the request of the village.

It may not have rained cats and dogs, but the storm that swept through Chicago on June 21 has left 19,000 Illinois residents still without power as of 1 p.m. Friday, June 24. The northern suburbs were hardest-hit. In Libertyville many tree branches were broken, and the fire department received more than 40 calls during the storm. One reader says it affected Route 176 near Libertyville High School for more than 29 hours.

After a snag in May due to soil contamination, workers recently found more contaminated soil in the West Parking Lot. This time, however, crews are moving right along with construction.
