Trustees Approve Commercial Garbage Franchise

The franchise will start in February 2015.

Libertyville Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to award a commercial garbage franchise to Groot Industries.

The contract will be in place for five years.

Trustees held a public hearing about the commercial garbage franchise at their Oct. 8 meeting. Just one resident, Katherine Aynillian, spoke at the hearing. She commended the board for considering a franchise that offers recycling for Libertyville's businesses.

The franchise will start on or about Feb. 1, 2015. State statute requires a 15-month waiting period before the franchise service can begin.
