Trustees Approve Rock Salt Purchase, Snow Removal Contract

Are you ready for winter?

We've only seen a few snowflakes flying in Lake County, but winter is just around the corner—and the village of Libertyville is ready.

Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the purchase of bulk rock salt and to sign a contract for snow plowing in some areas of town.

The board agreed to purchase rock salt from the Morton Salt Company at $51.80 per ton, not to exceed the budgeted amount of $99,100.

Trustees voted to contract with J&E Nursery of Libertyville for snow plowing services at a cost of $32,630. The contract will include snow plowing in public parking lots, village fire station lots, sidewalks/pathways, downtown snow loading/hauling and supplemental street snow plowing assistance.
