took action on two water main projects Tuesday night, approving the design engineering for one and the construction of another.
Trustees voted unanimously to award a contract to A-Lamp Contractors, Inc. for the replacement of a deteriorating 6-inch water main with a 12-inch water main on Seventh Avenue between Valley Park Drive and Glendale Road. A-Lamp Contractors, Inc. was the lowest bidder on the project, at $314,592. The five bids topped out at $339,179.
"The final cost of this project will be based on actual work quantities, not to exceed the bid amount," village staff said in a summary provided to the village board.
Trustees also voted unanimously to contract with Pearson, Brown & Associates, Inc. to commence the design engineering for replacement of the water main on West Park Avenue between Dawes Street and Dymond Road. The design engineering is expected to cost no more than $36,700, "which is approximately 10 percent of the improvement construction cost estimate of $400,000," according to staff.
