Village Approves Final Plan for West Parking Lot

Construction is expected to start in late summer. Libertyville Village Board also approved replacing computer servers, software.

Libertyville Village Board members unanimously approved the final plan to redevelop the parking lot behind the Village Hall and the rear of businesses on N. Milwaukee Avenue, at Tuesday's meeting.

According to village officials, the lot will be reconfigured to a north/south format, with sidewalks added behind existing businesses on the west side of Milwaukee Avenue.

The project is expected to cost $1.3 million and is funded through a tax-increment financing district. Construction on the lot would start after Libertyville Days.

"Believe it or not, by re-configuring the lot, we will pick up an additional six parking spaces," Libertyville Director of Community Development John Spoden told the board.

Weppler briefly excused himself from the discussion and vote on the parking lot due to a potential conflict of interests, before returning to preside over the rest of the meeting.

Village Replaces Computer Servers, Software

The board voted unanimously to purchase replacement computer servers and server software for the village.

According to Weppler, many of the village's server units were aging, making the purchase necessary.

The village agreed to purchase eight servers from Continental Resources to replace existing ones, at a cost of $24,199.

Trustees also voted 6-0 to purchase Microsoft server software from Computer Discount Warehouse at a cost of $18,188. Money for both purchases had previously been allocated in Libertyville's 2010-11 budget, Weppler said.
