Village Approves Funds For West Parking Lot

Village trustees approved funding for surface improvements on the parking lot behind rear of businesses on North Milwaukee Avenue and the Village Hall.

The West Parking Lot resurfacing project, which will provide pedestrian walkways in the parking lot between Cook and Lake Streets, is set to move forward after mid June and could be completed by fall.

During the May 24 board meeting, village trustees unanimously approved awarding a $481,800 contract to A-Lamp Concrete Contractors. The cost is significantly under the village’s estimated $800,000 cost for the project. A-Lamp Concrete beat out eight other bidders.

Construction has already started on the . In March, the to bury utility lines in the lot. The work is expected to be finished before Libertyville Days, which runs from June 16 through 19, and work on surface improvements is scheduled to start after the festival, according to village staff.

The project is expected to cost $1.3 million and is funded through a tax-increment financing district.
