Village Awards Streetlight Contract to Geary Electric

Libertyville trustees unanimously approved awarding a $48,936 contract to the company.

The Village of Libertyville recently awarded Geary Electric Inc. a contract to maintain and repair all streetlights in the village.

During the May 24 board meeting, trustees voted unanimously (6-0) t0 award the 2011-12 fiscal year bid to Geary Electric in the amount of $48,936; a cost estimate based on services performed last fiscal year.

The estimated costs represent a 3 percent increase from last year, however, the village's highway and bridges fund has $70,000 allocated in the upcoming fiscal year's budget to cover this.

Trustees rejected H&H Electric's $73,000 bid citing its higher cost and also because   Geary has prior experience working with the village. Last year Geary Electric handled the village's lamp replacements, cable fault repairs and streetlight knockdown replacements.
