Village Discusses Emerald Ash Borer Management

Management plan calls for identification, treatment and removal to combat ash tree pest in Libertyville.

.

The village plans to survey and take inventory of trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer, removal of highly affected trees and the use of chemical treatments on ash trees not yet showing signs of the Emerald Ash Borer as a proactive measure.

“The survey will tell us what size the trees are. It will tell us a lot about the trees, so we’ll know how to budget or put aside money to do some of these treatment programs,” said Parks Superintendent Jim Barlow after Sept. 6 Parks and Recreation meeting.
