Village Extends Wind Turbine Moratorium

The six-month moratorium will expire March 2012.

Village trustees unanimously approved extending a six-month moratorium on the construction, installation and operation of wind turbines at the Sept. 27 board meeting.

In March, Mayor Terry Weppler directed staff to adopt portions of Lake County’s ordinance regarding wind turbines into the village’s zoning code.

The Plan Commission has completed its work on the revision to the Wind Turbine Ordinance and the report will be presented at a future village board meeting.
