  • Why Go: Like all those cool new cocktails in restaurants and bars, but don't know a thing about making them? How about a cocktail class! Christophe Bukanas, owner of Local Wine Co., will be here mixing and blending his small batch, hand made spirits into some mouthwatering concoctions. No RSVP is needed, just grab some friends and head on over. There are two different start times, 6 and 7 p.m. Both demos will feature the same cocktails and will last about one hour.

Talent Show: The Final Countdown

  • When: Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, 7:30 p.m. each night.

  • Why Go: The Talent Show began in the mid 1960’s when the parents of the late Chicago sportscaster, Tim Weigel, was a student at LFHS. They suggested that a Talent Show could make a very successful fund-raiser. Mr. and Mrs. Weigel, who started Channel 26 in Chicago, were the first directors and brought in two professional entertainers to be the first MC’s.

The Lake Forest Symphony Bruckner Fest

  • When: Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, 8 p.m. each night.
  • Where: James Lumber Center at the College of Lake County
  • Why Go:The Lake Forest Symphony’s Bruckner Fest will open with Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat and then be joined by Laura Park, 18 years old and winner of the 2012 Music Institute of Chicago’s Concerto/Aria competition to perform Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto.

  • Why Go: Author Stacey Cordery will be in Lake Forest to promote her new book, Juliette Gordon Low: The Remarkable Founder of the Girl Scouts. The release coincides with the celebration of the Girl Scouts’ centennial. Juliette Gordon Low: The Remarkable Founder of the Girl Scouts, the first full-scale biography of the group’s founder, tells the colorful story of Low’s launch of the Girl Scouts of America.
