Cost to Repair Flood Damage at LHS Could Top $500K

Flooding of Libertyville High School's sub-basement last month forced the campus to cancel classes for two days.

The cost to investigate and repair the damage to Libertyville High School's sub-basement, which was flooded in April, could be more than $500,000, reported the Chicago Tribune.

The matter was discussed by the school board Monday. Officials are still not sure what caused the flooding, which forced the school to close for two days on April 18 and 19, reported Patch.

There was no damage to classrooms, but the flooding ruined a freight elevator, furniture and other school supplies, according to the Tribune. An engineering firm hired to examine potential flood-prone areas is expected to give the district a report on May 23.
