District 128 Teachers to Hold 'Snacks and Study Night'

The events, being held in advance of semester exams, will take place at the Cook Park and Aspen Drive libraries.

Illinois Federation of Teachers members from Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School, together with the Cook Memorial Library District, are sponsoring a Snacks and Study Night on Monday, Jan. 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cook Park Library and Aspen Drive Library.

Over 40 teachers from all academic departments have volunteered to help students prepare for semester exams, which begin on Jan. 15. The event is being publicized in the schools this week through the daily announcements and flyers posted throughout the buildings.

This is the second year that the Teachers’ Union has sponsored the Study Night. Last year’s event saw heavy student turnout and a similar response is anticipated this year. The idea was devised by a group of teachers who serve on the local Union leadership board as a way for the Union to show its appreciation to the communities for their support of district teachers. In addition to volunteering their time, teachers contributed money to provide snacks for the students at the event.
