Local Author and Libertyville Resident Brenda Wilhelmson to Read from "Diary of an Alcoholic Housewife" at Cook Memorial Public Library in Libertyville

Join Brenda Wilhelmson for her first public library appearance when she will read from her new book, Diary of an Alcoholic Housewife at the Cook Park Library.

From the outside, it appeared that Brenda Wilhelmson had it all. In truth, alcohol was taking over her life, until she made the critical decision to get sober; an often difficult decision that comes at the end of a burdensome struggle with dependency. Wilhelmson, a journalist who has written for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader and Huffington Post, kept diaries and blogged about her battle with alcohol addiction; eventually turning those entries into a book which was published in April, 2011. Speaking about her descent into alcoholism on the TODAY Show in June, she describes how she was like a lot of women in her community. She had a husband, and two children. She was successful with a good job and; she woke up with a hangover every day.

Hear Brenda share her story and reveal how she functioned as an alcoholic housewife and mother, and how she sobered up. Books for signing will be available for purchase, courtesy of Lake Forest Bookstore. This free event will be open to the public but registration is required. To register, call (847) 362-2330 or go to webres.cooklib.org. DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, THIS EVENT HAS MOVED TO THE LIBERTYVILLE CIVIC CENTER, 135 W. CHURCH ST.
