Middle school and high school teachers, school social workers, school support staff and youth leaders are invited to join the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center’s Tobacco Free Lake County and Prevention Services programs for a free workshop titled Prevention in the Classroom on November 8.
Most adolescents in Lake County make smart, healthy choices when it comes to alcohol, tobacco and other drug use. At this training, prevention educators from the Lake County Health Department will present the most recent countywide data on teen alcohol, tobacco and other drug use behaviors, beliefs and attitudes. Participants will gain strategies and tools to share this information with students, as well as some new ways to help students think critically about their choices and perceptions. Each participant will receive a flash drive with resources, handouts and lesson plans to use in their school or classroom.

The training will take place on Tuesday, November 8th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lake County Central Permit Facility located at 500 West Winchester Road in Libertyville. Refreshments will be provided and all participants will receive free classroom posters. This is a free training opportunity; however, pre-registration is required. Participants can register by calling Tobacco Free Lake County at (847) 377-8090 by Monday, November 7th.
