Highland Middle School to Hold 'Hornet Hustle" 5K

"Not only does this race promote doing something healthy but it also encourages students to be good citizens and give back to their world-wide community," said Kerstin Cholewin.

The Libertyville community is invited to join Highland Middle School’s first 5K race, called the “Hornet Hustle,” at 9 a.m. on April 6 in Independence Grove.

Proceeds from the timed race will benefit the Cove Alliance, an organization dedicated to providing social services to orphaned and disadvantaged children in Uganda. This has been Highland’s major fundraiser for the last two years.
Highland Middle School partnered with the Cove Alliance and is committed to raising enough money to build a piggery for children in Uganda.

“This is the first fundraising race Highland has ever held,” said teacher and Cove Alliance Committee member Kerstin Cholewin. “We are extremely excited to offer an event that will attract students and families, as well as runners in the community. Best of all, those involved will know they are running for a great cause—helping young children in Uganda."
