Schools, Other Facilities Closed Due to Weather

Check out the latest weather-related closures for Jan. 6.

UPDATE, 6:56 p.m. Sunday: St. Joseph School, Alta Vista Montessori School, Brightstar US and the Cook Memorial Public Library District have all been added to the list of weather-related closures for Monday, according to the Emergency Closing Center website.

UPDATE, 3:09 p.m.: 
All three College of Lake County campuses—in Grayslake, Vernon Hills and Waukegan—will be closed Monday due to the weather. 

CLC officials shared this additional notice on the college website: "Since offices will not be open on Monday, the deadline for tuition payments for the Spring 2014 Semester has been extended to midnight, Tuesday, Jan. 7, and the drop for nonpayment will occur on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Students will therefore have one additional day to pay in full or set up an installment payment plan, which can both be done through the college's online payment page."

UPDATE, 2:10 p.m.: The Dance Academy of Libertyville and St. John Lutheran School will both be closed Monday due to the weather. We will share additional closures as they become available.

 Schools in Libertyville District 70 and Community High School District 128 will be closed Monday due to the extreme cold.

District 70 officials posted this notice on Facebook: "As the temperature continues to fall and snow continues to accumulate, we are closing ALL SCHOOLS on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. School closings include Adler Park, Butterfield, Copeland Manor, Highland Middle and Rockland schools, along with the ERC. Champions, the before and after school program, also will be closed and there will be NO before or after school activities tomorrow. We will continue to monitor weather conditions as we make the safety of our students and staff a priority. Thank you for your understanding."

Libertyville and Vernon Hills High Schools will also be closed, according to the Emergency Closings Center website.

"All school and district offices will be closed, and all athletics and school activities will be canceled," district officials announced on Facebook.
