LHS Science Olympiad Team Takes 5th in State Competition

In two short years, the Libertyville High School Science Olympiad team has risen to one of the best teams in Illinois. In 2011, as a first year team, the LHS Science Olympiad team qualified for the state competition. They placed 1st in the A division, and 16th overall in the State.

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, the team earned a 5th place overall trophy at the State competition at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana. The team is coached by Ursula Ahern and Mary Allen.
Competition was fierce as the 48 best high school teams from around the state competed in 23 national events, as well as four state trial events. This year the team was moved up to the AA division. The most anticipated moment of the day was after individual medals when team trophies were announced. The LHS team earned a 5th place overall trophy.

The 2012 LHS State Science Olympiad Team includes: Max Allen, Wes Allen, Adam Blythe, Charles Burnett, Rosanna Chen, Megan Harder, Marcele Joseph, Heather Legan, Jason Leib, Kelly Lubbers, Joey Nedland, Erin Neil, Colleen Pawlicki, Michael Price, Connor Robinson, Gordon Schlicht, Patrick Slade, Tommy Wagener, Colin Xu, and Jessica Yin.
In addition to the strong overall showing, the following students placed in the top 12 (AA division) in their individual events:
