LHS Students Paint Business Windows for Homecoming Week

Which window is your favorite?

When the Libertyville High School Student Council group was asked who their star artist was for their decorated window in downtown Libertyville, everyone pointed to one person: Kimber Garland.

The LHS sophomore, who goes by "Kiwi," drew a freehand Spiderman on the window at Eclectic Design Source, using just a picture for reference. She said the drawing took her about 20 minutes.

The Spiderman drawing was just part of the Student Council's window design, which also included a large, elaborate web.

"It was a group effort for sure," said Cam Chen, sophomore.

Forty-two Libertyville businesses participated in the window decorating this year, and students gathered Saturday to paint those windows.

The theme for this year's Homecoming is Superheroes, said sophomore Mallory Paquin. She added that each grade level had its own superhero to depict on its windows. Seniors, for example, had Superman, while juniors had Batman as their superhero.

"I think it's easy because you can look up logos of the superheroes," Paquin, a member of Orchesis, said of the theme.
