Libertyville Grad at Forefront of Cancer Research

Libertyville High School grad Dena Goldberg is a lab technician studying how cancer cells become cancerous.

Dena Goldberg, who graduated Libertyville High School five years ago, is conducting ground-breaking cancer research in a lab at the University of California in San Francisco, reports the Libertyville Review.

In her research, Goldberg, a lab technician, is studying the earliest stages in which cancer cells become cancerous, with the hope of identifying a pattern that could help doctors more accurately predict how breast cancer will progress in a patient based on a few simple tests, according to the Review.

Goldberg, whose parents Susan and Jay Goldberg live in Libertyville, told the Libertyville Review she plans to attend graduate school in the fall and wants to host an educational TV show.
