Libertyville High School Pool Ready for Swimmers

The pool reopened yesterday; Vernon Hills High School pool likely will reopen today.

The pool officially is open.

According to an update issued Tuesday by , "the LHS pool water is now at required temperature."

Additionally, the Vernon Hills High School pool passed its licensing inspection with the Lake County Public Health Department and has met all its licensing requirements, according to .

"Following additional required warming of the VHHS pool water, the pool will once again be available for use," according to the update.

"We thank the patience of our community," Associate Superintendent Al Fleming said during the May 29 school board meeting. He said the anticipates the Vernon Hills High School pool being up and running by the end of today.

The district was required to repair drains at the pools to meet the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act of 2007, which requires new drains or covers that cannot trap swimmers with powerful suctions. The district had to conduct required repairs and pass necessary inspections prior to June 1, 2012.

Fleming thanked athletic director Briant Kelly and Vernon Hills High School athletic director Brian McDonald for coordinating different locations for swimming events.
