Libertyville High School to Remain Closed Friday

The school experienced flooding in the sub-basement Thursday.

Libertyville High School will be closed on Friday, April 19, for continued assessment and clean-up related to Thursday’s flooding of the sub-basement. There were several feet of water in the sub-basement, and District 128 workers continue to pump large amounts of water from the area.

Removal efforts are continuing to bring levels down to allow for further assessment. Although initial evaluation by the district’s structural engineer indicates that the building is structurally sound, additional water removal is required to bring the water down to a level for a more thorough structural inspection. In addition, when water levels are further reduced, the source of the flooding will be identified and repaired, and any required water and/or environmental clean-up will be completed.

Please check the LHS website on Friday for the status of after-school activities and athletics. The district will continue to post updates to the LHS website and social media regarding the flooding situation.
