Libertyville Students Aim for Global Win

Students from Libertyville Elementary District 70 are hoping to capture the district's first global win at Destination Imagination.

A team of Libertyville Elementary District 70 elementary students involved in an international Destination Imagination program are preparing for a worldwide competition in May after placing first at the state level.

Destination Imagination challenges students in problem solving techniques.

This year, a team of Butterfield students placed first in a state competition at Illinois State University on April 9. The placing propels them to the global competition held May 25-28 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Watch a video of the team preparing for state .

Members of the team “DI-Classified” participating in the Unidentified Moving Object challenge will travel out of state in hopes of capturing the District’s first global win. Members include Emma Chandler, Jonathan Timm, Milica Lukic, Erin Leese, Tate Constable and Jake Duffy. The managers are Elizabeth Chandler and Dan Timm. For the challenge, teams need to figure out how to design and build equipment to move between towering heights without using electricity.

This marks the fourth year in a row District 70 has sent teams to the global competition.
