Libertyville, Vernon Hills Teachers Union to Sponsor Finals Study Night

Community High School District 128 teachers will be helping students prepare for finals on Jan. 9 at local libraries.

On Monday night, teachers of Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools are volunteering to help their students prepare for finals.

In partnership with Cook Memorial and Aspen libraries, the teachers' union of Community High School District 128 is sponsoring a Study Night on Jan. 9 from 6-10 p.m. at the libraries.

More than 30 teachers from all departments in both buildings have volunteered to assist students in their preparation for finals; they will be present at both libraries from 6-8 p.m.  Snacks for the students will be provided, also courtesy of the teachers' union.

"Our members wanted to give back to the community in which we work, and so many of us live," said Dennis Duffy, president of the District 128 teachers union.  "We appreciate the chance to work with the libraries and their excellent facilities to create this great opportunity for students to seek help from their teachers in getting ready for finals, in a more relaxed atmosphere than the classroom."

This is the first such event sponsored by the teachers' union.  It plans to offer a similar study night in May, before the spring semester finals and graduation.
