board on Monday approved hiring Mike Jones, 48, as the new head coach for Libertyville High School's football team.
This past season, Jones served as the assistant coach for Libertyville head coach Randy Kuceyeski. .
Jones began his teaching career at Grayslake High School, where he taught math and coached football and basketball for 13 years. He has been a member of the Libertyville Math Department since 2003 and was on the coaching staff for the State Football Championship in 2004.
For the past 10 years, Jones has served as the defensive coordinator for the Wildcats.
"Mike will follow in the footsteps of a great coach, and I am confident that Mike will put his own stamp on the program," Briant Kelly, Libertyville High School's athletic director, wrote in an email.
