Two LHS Students Win National Photography Honors

The girls won silver medals at the National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.

The following press release is from District 128:

On March 17, District 128 Seniors Kelly Brant (LHS) and Krista Erlandson (LHS) won National Silver Medals for their photographs submitted to the 2014 National Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the longest running and most prestigious scholarship competition, as well as the largest source of scholarships, for creative teenagers in grades 7-12 in the United States. This year, tens of thousands of pieces from across the country were judged regionally, and Gold Medal winners from the regional level were judged on the national level in 16 different art media categories (http://www.artandwriting.org/).

Kelly's piece, "Longing," and Krista's piece, "Who Is Who," were entered in the Photography category. The Scholastic National Silver Medal is one of the highest levels of achievement on the national level.  Kelly and Krista have both earned monetary scholarships for their submissions, and have been invited to receive their medals at an Awards Ceremony at Carnegie Hall on June 6, 2014.
