Treetime is a Local Christmas Wonderland

We know it's not even Thanksgiving, but a walk around the showroom of Treetime Christmas Creations in Lake Barrington will put you in the holiday spirit.

There's a magical warehouse on Pepper Road in Lake Barrington called Treetime Christmas Creations, and if you haven't heard about it, it's a wonderland of holiday decor, and like a child, you'll want everything you see.

From pre-lit artificial trees and wreaths, to ornaments, lights and nativity scenes, this place has it all.

"We had a couple drive here from North Carolina just to come here," said manager and buyer Margie Smyth. "Those who know come here to find all the new stuff, to be the first ones, because once it's gone, it's gone."

Treetime's 50,000 square-foot "Winter Wonderland Christmas Showroom" opened the day after Labor Day, but don't worry, they have a ton of holiday decor to choose from, and a reason to come back next year.

At the end of the season (the showroom closes the second week in January), "We totally teardown the showroom," said Smyth. "We change out every year and add more."

From traditional to contemporary, every holiday season brings new displays and merchandise to the showroom, which is also used by area nonprofits to host fundraisers.

On Tuesdays, the showroom hosts a caroling high school chorus competition sponsored by radio station Star 105.5. On Nov. 19, Barrington, Round Lake and McHenry West high schools will compete.
