5k at the Lake County Family YMCA

If you’ve never done a 5K run or walk before and want to do so, the Lake County Family YMCA is offering you the perfect chance Saturday, Oct. 1.

The 3.1 mile run or walk will start at 8 a.m. at the Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

“We’re offering this 5K with a relaxed focus that will be perfect for people who are new to races. Let us be your first 5K. We welcome children, families and active older adults,” Lake County Family YMCA Health & Wellness Director Clair Pauschert said.

The route will be along a paved path close to the Y, and the event will take place rain or shine.

Cost is $10 for people 16 and older or $5 for persons 15 and younger. Participants will get a T-shirt.
