Come dance, mingle and have fun as Northern Lake YMCA hosts a special Zumba class Saturday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Proceeds from this fund-raising event will help the Y purchase a new sound system for use in its fitness classes.

Mayra Galindo, health and wellness coordinator at the Northern Lake Y, says it will be a typical Zumba class for the most part – with one notable exception. Participants will see demonstrations of different styles from as many as 10 instructors during this one session. “We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of new faces on Sept. 8 working out, having fun and seeing a variety of Zumba styles – all for a good cause,” Galindo says.

Zumba fund-raiser participants can save $5 by registering in advance at Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan, or Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. Registrations also can be done by calling (847) 360-9622 (Waukegan) or (847) 367-6797 (Vernon Hills). The cost to register the day of the event is $25 for Y members and $30 for community members. Any community member who signs up for a Y membership at the event will have his or her joiner’s fee waived. Tickets also will be sold for raffle prize drawings immediately following the Zumba class.

For more information, contact Galindo at (847) 360-9622.
