LHS Student to Hold 'No Limits Running Camp' in August

If your children are signing for Libertyville High School student Max Roberts' No Limits Running Camp, they'd better be prepared.

Roberts said he has "acquired many new training tips and techniques recently from some very well-known college coaches, including the coaching staff of the University of Kansas Women's Track & Field team, who this year actually won the Collegiate National Championship.

"So I guess you could say I have plenty of new tricks up my sleeve," said Roberts.

Roberts will kick off his fourth year of the No Limits Running Camp Aug. 5. There will be two one-week sessions starting Aug. 5 and Aug. 12. The cost is $35 per person for one week, but should a child sign up for both weeks, the second week will cost just $20.

The camp is held on the trail around Lake Catherine in Green Oaks.

"What makes No Limits so great is the fact that no so long ago, I was in these kids' shoes," said Roberts. "Meaning that I know what they're dealing with and what kind of obstacles they're facing, and this allows me to better help them to become better athletes and just stronger individuals."

The Green Oaks resident started the No Limits Running Camp to help runners at Oak Grove School get ready for the cross country season. The camp is designed for kids who just want to improve their running or even get in shape for any fall sport.

The camp starts out with the children running an easy mile to gauge their starting times. From there, the participants' training regimen is based on their skill level. Beginners run three to four 100-meter repetitions (or whatever they can handle), while those with more experience run six or seven repetitions each day.

"I think what I'm most looking forward to this year with No Limits Running Camp is just the overall improvement of the campers physically and mentally," said Roberts. "It's exciting to watch these kids progress throughout the duration of camp as they pick up valuable lessons about training and maintaining a healthy mindset."
