Gas Prices Continue to Drop

Americans are saving $200 million per day on gasoline, compared to April.

The national average price of regular gasoline has dropped 41 cents since April 2, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s This Week in Petroleum June 20 report. 

Gas prices continue to fall. The current average nationwide for a gallon of regular is $3.83, down 26 cents from a month ago and 18 cents from a year ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report

Americans are now spending roughly $200 million per day less on gas than in early April, when gas peaked at $3.94 per gallon. And analysts are expecting further declines. One economist on Tuesday forecast the national average will soon fall to $3.10 per gallon, according to BloomBerg Businessweek.

"The good news is retail gas prices continue to drop and are forecast to retreat throughout the month," said Jessica Brady, AAA spokesperson, The Auto Club Group, in the Tampa Bay Weekly.

In Libertyville, both Mapquest and Gas Buddy are showing that the lowest price is $3.65 for a gallon of regular gas. In Vernon Hills, the lowest price is $3.66, according to Gas Buddy, while Mapquest shows the lowest price at $3.67.
