Major Traffic Delays Expected on Route 21 Wednesday

IDOT will be installing precast sections of a pedestrian tunnel near Casey Road Aug. 28.

Are you planning to travel on Milwaukee Avenue near Libertyville on Wednesday?

The Illinois Department of Transportation is warning that there will be major delays on Milwaukee Avenue due to planned construction.

Weather permitting, precast sections of a multi-use pedestrian tunnel will be delivered and installed on the east side of Milwaukee Avenue (Route 21) about 1,500 feet south of Casey Road, according to the IL Rte 21 and 137 Project website. This work was originally scheduled to be completed on Aug. 27 but was rescheduled for Aug. 28.

While each of the seven precast sections are being delivered and installed, Milwaukee Avenue will be closed in both directions between Route 120 and about 1,500 feet south of Casey Road. The closures are set to start at 8 a.m. and continue until 3:30, with each closure lasting for about 15 minutes, according to IDOT.
