A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for southern Lake County, including Libertyville and surrounding communities.
The warning will be in effect until 5:15 p.m. The storm is expected to reach the Vernon Hills area around 5:05 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, impacts could include quarter-size hail and wind gusts of 70 miles per hour wind.
"Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage," National Weather Service officials said in their warning statement.
