Kowal Talks Sports, Church Serves Greek Food and Booster Club Holds Event This Week

Kowal's Career in Sports

Connie Kowal, director of recreation for the Village of Libertyville and the Libertyville Sports Complex, will talk about his 33-year career in professional sports at the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society meeting Nov. 18. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room at Cook Park Library.

Greek Food Festival

St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church's Philoptochos Society will hold its annual Fall Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 21-22. Items on the menu will include Athenian chicken, roasted leg of lamb, dolmades, pastichio, tiropitas, spanakopitas and plenty of desserts. St. Demetrios is located at 1400 N. O'Plaine Road, Libertyville.

Tip-Off Madness

The new Libertyville High School Wildcats Boys Basketball Association will hold its first event, Tip-Off Madness, Nov. 22. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at LHS for the event, which will include scrimmages involving freshman, sophomore and varsity basketball players. There will also be shooting contests, along with raffles. Attendees could win items like gift cards or even a pair of tickets to a Chicago Bulls game.
