Kailyn sits on Santa's knee during his visit to MainStreet Libertyville's Dickens of a Holiday in Libertyville. She requested a Barbie doll with wings and in return Santa requested chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk. Kailyn, 4, enjoyed talking to Santa and said "You know, we've got chocolate milk!" Santa is wishing for snow next week when he returns to Cook Park from 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m., when he will greet children in his sleigh.

Anna DeRosa completes her holiday gift shopping at the Children's Holiday Shoppe, where children can shop for gifts on their own. Anna was glad to be shopping by herself without her parents. Anna's mother thinks it is great because children learn to manage money and separate trips are not necessary to maintain the surprise of the gifts selected. The Holiday Shoppe is located in Petranek's Pharmacy and will be open again from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

Aaron Stein had been talking for two weeks about coming to shop, because he was excited to shop by himself. Aaron's mother said that she came down from Fox Lake to participate in the event because it teaches children how to give. His grandmother said that he will be donating to others this year as a part of the holiday season's spirit of giving.

An annual authentic Victorian English tea, complete with finger sandwiches and delectable bite-sized desserts, is set among the stained-glass windows of St. Lawrence Church. Both the Dec. 3 and Dec.10 spots have been sold out this year.

The Ansel B. Cook Victorian home stands at the heart of downtown Libertyville. Once the home of Ansel B. Cook, state lawmaker and stone masonry contractor, the house is now maintained by the Libertyville Mundelein Historical Society, which is hosting a Victorian Christmas Open House from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3-4, Dec. 10-11 and Dec. 17-18 this season. The Libertyville merchants have decorated their windows with festive decorations. The Christine Anne Couture window designed using wrapping papers received an honorable mention in the service category in the downtown holiday window display contest sponsored by MainStreet Libertyville.
