The Libertyville Police Department is investigating the death of Robert Pokorny, age 73, of unincorporated Libertyville. The Police Department responded to a call Oct. 5 at Adler Park, 1500 Milwaukee Ave., where Mr. Pokorny was found unresponsive and trapped beneath his vehicle in the area of the sledding hill parking lot. Preliminary information suggests that Mr. Pokorny was apparently working on his own vehicle when it may have shifted and he became trapped by the rear tire. Mr. Pokorny was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville where he was pronounced deceased at 1:32 pm. The Lake County Coroner’s office was contacted and responded to the scene, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined. At this time …

The Libertyville Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012 at approximately 4:52. The accident took place in the 200 block of West Golf Road, in front of the south Libertyville Fire station. Police received an anonymous report of the vehicle crash, and upon arrival, officers and Fire Department personnel discovered the vehicle, a 2011 Toyota sedan, on its roof in the roadway. The driver, and sole occupant, Richard A. Heim, age 70, of Mundelein, Illinois was entrapped in the vehicle. He was extricated by Libertyville Fire paramedics and transported to Advocate Condell Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Initial investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling …

A man was walking at Butterfield and Route 60 in Vernon Hills Saturday when he was hit by a car, which then left the scene. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries.
Vernon Hills Police are looking for a driver who allegedly hit a pedestrian and fled the scene early Saturday afternoon at Route 60 and Butterfield Road. Police said the accident occurred at about 2:10 p.m. July 14. The vehicle was described as a small four-door, possibly a white Honda Civic. The driver was described as a white male in his 50s, wearing a baseball hat and glasses, police said. The pedestrian, a white male, said he was hit when he started crossing Route 60. 17-year-old Harrison Fischer died early Sunday morning following an accident near Grayslake.
It appears speed was a factor in the accident that caused the car of 17-year-old Harrison Fischer of Mundelein early Sunday near Grayslake, according to the Lake County Sheriff. The accident happened on the 29700 block of West Chardon Road, near Route 60. Chief Wayne Hunter of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said they were called to the scene at 5:09 a.m., where they found Fischer's car nearly split in half. Hunter said the teen was the only person in the 2002 Ford Escape when it veered off the road and hit a utility pole, then a large tree. The Lake County Coroner said Fischer suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, yet authorities believe …
