Austin's to Host 'Breastfest' Cancer Fundraiser

Austin's Fuel Room in Libertyville will host several artists, including The Breakfast Club, for a breast cancer fundraiser Saturday night.

Austin's Fuel Room in Libertyville will host "Breastfest 4," a fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer, starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13. Artists will include Michael McDermott and Heather Horton, The Breakfast Club (performing at 10 p.m.) and Rock Band Karaoke. Austin's Fuel Room Owner Inks Deal with Fairgrounds for New Music Venue

Austin's Fuel Room in Libertyville and the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake are teaming up to establish the area's largest music and entertainment venue.

Mark Khayat, the owner of Austin's Saloon and Eatery in Libertyville, and the mastermind behind Austin's Fuel Room, has inked a deal with the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake to bring more concerts and entertainment to the area. "Here some big news for ya! Austin's Fuel Room and Lake County Fairgrounds have partnered up to create the largest indoor/outdoor, multi-entertainment facility in Lake County! AUSTINS FUEL ARENA! Stay tuned....," posted Khayat on Facebook. Khayat's company, Fuel, Inc., has a five-year contract with the fairgrounds to host musical acts on the grounds, to be marketed as Austin's Fuel Arena, reports the Daily Herald. U.S. Hero Comes Home To Lake Forest

Emergency vehicles, motorcycles, and many happy, flag waving supporters welcome home Patrick O’Leary.

After a seven-month tour in Afghanistan, Marine Lance Corporal Patrick O’Leary from Lake Forest was welcomed home this past weekend. The Illinois Patriot Guard arranged a mission with family and friends, meeting the 24-year-old soldier en route from O’Hare Airport with motorcycles, flags, and a procession of supporters that escorted him up I-94, down Buckley Avenue, to Austin’s Saloon in Libertyville. “It’s amazing. I can’t even express how it feels, there’s no other feeling,” Lance Cpl. O’Leary said of being home. “It’s like a breath of fresh air, literally. Great Escape: A Night Out to Help Fellow Women

No need to feel guilty taking some “you time” while attending two upcoming Libertyville fundraisers.

This week, our Great Escape features two great opportunities to have a night out and help others as two Libertyville establishments have scheduled breast cancer research fundraisers. On April 30, Austin Saloon’s Fuel Room will feature Breast Fest 2, its second concert and fundraiser to help end breast cancer. The headliners of the evening will be singer, songwriter Michael McDermott, a Chicago folk and rock artist, with his band featuring Heather Horton, a singer and violinist. The event takes place from 7-10 p.m. and tickets range from $25 - $50 and can be purchased at www.bfchampions.org. Marketing Committee Looks to Create Fitness Contest

Two approaches to competition discussed at meeting.

Members of Libertyville’s Marketing Committee discussed options for creating a fitness competition among village residents at Tuesday’s meeting. Member Antonietta Simonian presented information on a 12-week contest. “We need twelve weeks to lose weight effectively, efficiently, in a healthy way,” she said. She suggested a start date in February, to coincide with American Heart Month. Her idea would incorporate local businesses sponsoring teams of four people. Each team would have a weekly weigh in at one of the health or fitness centers in Libertyville. The team that loses the largest percentage of weight would win. The sponsoring business would win the Mayor’s Cup, an award they could display for a year. Simonian would like to see …
