Woodstock Elderly Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run An 83-year-old Woostock woman turned herself into McHenry County Sheriff police on Thursday afternoon after she said she unknowingly hit and killed 6-year-old Brayan Silva near Union on Sept. 8. Varamae C. Phillip was charged with failure to report a fatal traffic accident and leaving the scene of a crime, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office said. Phillip posted 10 percent of a $50,000 bond and was released. Buffalo Grove Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash Anthony Brust, a 21-year-old Buffalo Grove resident died Sept. 11 after a motorcycle crash in Long Grove Monday, the Daily Herald reported. Park Ridge Man Charged With Assaulting Teen Who Was Walking Home A Park Ridge resident attacked and ripped the shorts off a 16-year-old girl on Aug. 15 around 5 p.m., Park Ridge police stated. Anthony M. Nugent, 37, of Park Ridge, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, a class 3 felony. Nugent was also charged with misdemeanor possession of cannabis. According to police, the victim was walking in the 900 block of Home Avenue. At that time, Nugent allegedly asked the girl what she was carrying. The victim responded that it was a musical instrument and continued walking, police said. Crystal Lake Knife-wielding Woman Robs Farmstand It appears one woman's attempt to rob Cody's Farm Fresh Stand on Thursday afternoon has been squashed by Crystal Lake Police. Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior issued a press release Friday stating Amy M. Migliorato, 28, 5 Arrowhead Dr., Algonquin, has been arrested and charged with one count of robbery. Police were called at 4:15 p.m. Thursday to Cody's Farm Fresh Stand at 140 S. Route 14, a vacant lot between The Freeze and the Crystal Lake Motel, where the 20-year-old stand attendant stated an unidentified white woman dressed in an orange jersey displayed a knife and demanded cash. Buffalo Grove Man Charged After Fireworks Cause Large Brush Fire A brush fire northwest of Buffalo Grove and Aptakisic roads destroyed grass and wiped out power to thousands of residents, but no lives or homes were harmed in the blaze. The fire was started by fireworks and quickly consumed about 15 acres of Commonwealth Edison property July 8. Police charged Gabriel R. Horwich, 20, of 424 Cedar Court North, Buffalo Grove, with criminal damage to property by reckless means of a fire — a Class 4 felony. Skokie Woman Charged In Fatal Crash A 23-year-old Skokie woman was charged in the crash that killed an 8-year-old boy, according to a police statement released Wednesday. Hanin Goma, of Skokie, was charged with one count felony aggravated driving under the influence resulting in death, and one count misdemeanor driving under the influence. Goma was also cited for failing to yield at a stop sign and failing to provide proof of insurance. The victim, Carter Vo, was out with his bicycle before being hit and killed as a result of the three-car, chain-reaction crash. He was pronounced dead at 8:18 p.m. Vo was a student at Madison School. Palatine May 17 A no-bond first degree murder arrest warrant has been obtained by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department for Vidal Rodriguez, aka “Chi-Town”, of the 80 block of Carriage Hill Road in Wheeling, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Thursday. Rodriguez, 20, is wanted for an unprovoked murder that occurred on May 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the Whispering Winds apartment complex located near the southeast corner of Lake-Cook Road and IL Route 53 in Unincorporated Palatine Township. He has previous arrests in his history and is a member of the Maniac Latin Disciples. Barrington Hills May 10 A Barrington Hills couple was found dead Thursday, May 10 in an apparent murder-suicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the couple as Julianne Damato, 47, and Joseph Damato, 56. Police were at their home at the end of Lakeview Lane early Thursday morning. When police searched the home, they found Jospeh Damato dead in the garage, and found Julianne Damato dead in the second floor master bedroom. Julianne Damato died of multiple gunshot wounds. Crystal Lake May 2 Two people were killed Thursday in a plane crash near the Lake in the Hills Airport, Crystal Lake police said. The Northwest Herald reports Hugh Scott Clark, 65, of Lake Forest, and Paul San Filippo, 82, of Grayslake, died in the accident and "were in the front seats of the plane when it crashed." A witness on the scene said they heard a loud noise and saw the plane make a sharp bank from the south to the north before going down. The witness said that the plane might have lost power. Wheeling April 24 A school bus was sent careening into a Wheeling neighborhood April 24 after colliding with a Honda Civic near Dundee Road and Schoenbeck Road. No children were on the bus at the time. The bus was headed north on Schoenbeck Road at about 3:30 p.m. and had a greenlight, said Duane Madsen, a school crossing guard who saw the crash. Madsen said the Civic came through the intersection on Dundee Road. The bus hit the front of the Civic, went off the west side of Schoenbeck, plowed through a fence and line of shrubbery before striking the home of Don Johnson, a 24-year resident of Wheeling.
