UPDATE: Fire Caused by Dryer at Centre Club

Numerous fire/rescue vehicles were on the scene.

Update, 11:57 a.m.: The fire reported at Centre Club in Libertyville was indeed caused by a dryer, said Condell Spokesman Josh McColough. "It was contained to just that one particular dryer," McColough said. He said the building was evacuated, following safety protocols, and will remained closed for the rest of the day so fire personnel can complete their inspection. McColough said an employee who was in the vicinity of the fire reported feeling lightheaded and was taken to the emergency room as precaution. Centre Club Offers Free Programs for Cancer Patients

Advocate Condell Medical Center's Centre Club is offering free cancer exercise program to help patients cope with the effects of treatment with the hope of positively influencing their recovery.

With myriad prevention and treatment options regarding cancer, Advocate Condell Centre Club Cancer Exercise Specialist Carol Dieball says people shouldn’t forget or underestimate the benefits of physical activity for cancer patients. “Staying physically active can have positive effects on mood, self-confidence, muscle tone, and cardiovascular endurance,” Dieball said. “It can also help fight against depression.” Recognizing the strategic advantage of exercise for cancer patients, The Advocate Condell Libertyville Centre Club offers a free exercise program. Advocate Condell Offered Special Fitness Camp for Kids with Disabilities

Close to 20 children attended the first Pediatric Alternatives to Creative Therapy program at the hospital this summer.

The fitness needs of children with disabilities are often overlooked. But a new program launched this summer at Advocate Condell Medical Center focused on meeting those needs. Nearly 20 children attended the first-ever Pediatric Alternatives to Creative Therapy program at Advocate Condell this summer. Three PACT sessions were held at the hospital and at the Advocate Condell Centre Clubs. Designed to motivate and educate children with disabilities to get and stay fit, the sessions used dance, swimming, weight training, yoga and other activities. The students also got lessons in healthy eating by Advocate Condell registered dietician Timothy “Joshh” Rager. Throughout our marriage, my husband and I have had to discuss where we can cut back to maximize our finances. It’s always hard, but in the end, it benefits the whole family. Each time we talk, our gym membership comes up for discussion. My husband is rightfully stubborn against canceling our gym membership, even when things are tight. His reasoning is simple: I am a better person when I regularly go to the gym. When he says this, he’s not talking about my jeans size.
