The College of Lake County has begun a $60 million bonding process for a campus master plan.

The College of Lake County Board of Trustees has approved a notice to issue up to $60 million in general obligation bonds for facilities improvements on the Grayslake campus. A public hearing on the bond issue will be held during the trustees’ regular meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 19 at the Southlake Campus at 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., in Vernon Hills. A resolution authorizing the actual bond sale will be considered at the April 29 board meeting. The trustees approved a sustainable campus master plan in Nov. 2012. The plan includes energy-saving repairs to aging infrastructure, a new science building and consolidated space for student support services on the Grayslake campus as well as a major expansion of the Lakeshore Campus in …

Activities are planned at all three campuses; a cookout will be held at the Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills Aug. 21 and 22.
During the first week of fall semester, the College of Lake County will welcome back students at all three campuses with a variety of fun events. In addition, the public is invited to the Grayslake campus to attend a free outdoor showing of this summer’s blockbuster movie, “The Avengers,” on Friday, Aug. 24. At the Grayslake campus, the Office of Student Life has planned four days’ worth of food, fun and prizes. Welcome Week activities are offered Aug. 20-23 for new and returning students. Grayslake campus: The Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills will welcome back students with a cookout and giveaways on Aug. 21 and 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. outside of the Atrium.
