Cook County Cop Charged With Criminally Transmitting HIV

Police say Cicero officer John Savage had sexual activity with a woman without letting her know of his HIV positive status.

A Cicero Police Department officer has been charged with criminally transmitting HIV, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said. John Savage, 38, of LaGrange Park appeared in Bond Court today in Maywood. He was given an I-Bond, meaning he was released on his promise to appear at his next court date scheduled for March 21st at the Maywood Courthouse.  Cook County Sheriff’s Police Detectives were notified by LaGrange Police about the incident that occurred on July 29, 2012.  According to the 24-year-old man, he and Savage went to a movie on July 29 and after the movie went to Savage’s home in LaGrange Park and engaged in sexual activity. Later, the victim inquired about Savage’s HIV status and Savage informed him he was HIV positive.  He …

Cops: Convicted Killer Returned to Prison

Steven L. Robbins was taken back to an Indiana prison after being mistakenly released last week.

Steven L. Robbins has returned to the custody of the Indiana Department of Corrections, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said.  Robbins, 44, made a brief court appearance Friday at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, located at 26th and California Ave., where a judge quashed the warrant for Robbins’ arrest that was issued after he was mistakenly released from Cook County Jail on Wednesday.  Members of the Sheriff’s Police Central Warrants Unit returned Robbins early this afternoon to the Indiana Department of Corrections, where he is serving a 60-year sentence for murder and having a gun without a license.  Sheriff Dart led the apprehension of Robbins on Friday night in Kankakee with more than 20 members of the Cook County Sheriff’s Police …

Convicted Killer Mistakingly Released, Sheriff Seeks Public's Help

The Cook County Sheriff's office is looking for Steven L. Robbins, 44.

The Cook County Sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help apprehending an offender that has been mistakenly released.  Steven L. Robbins, 44 years of age, is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 190 pounds. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck that reads “Nicole.”  Robbins was born in Gary, Ind. and is serving a sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections for murder.  The Sheriff has ordered an investigation into the facts and circumstances regarding his court appearance and release from custody.  Law enforcement is searching for Robbins. Palatine May 17 A no-bond first degree murder arrest warrant has been obtained by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department for Vidal Rodriguez, aka “Chi-Town”, of the 80 block of Carriage Hill Road in Wheeling, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Thursday. Rodriguez, 20, is wanted for an unprovoked murder that occurred on May 12 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the Whispering Winds apartment complex located near the southeast corner of Lake-Cook Road and IL Route 53 in Unincorporated Palatine Township. He has previous arrests in his history and is a member of the Maniac Latin Disciples.
