Shootout Near Boston Connected to Bombing Suspects

Suspect one is reported dead. The second suspect identified as wearing a white cap in FBI photos was still at-large as of 3:50 a.m. CST Friday.

Updated: New Images of Boston Marathon Bombing Suspects

Authorities released new photos early Friday morning of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombings

The FBI has released photos and videos of two suspects in Monday's Boston Marathon bombings, which killed three people and injured nearly 200. At a press conference Thursday, Special agent Richard DesLauriers said the FBI has developed two suspects in the case and are looking for the public's help to identify them. The FBI said these are the only photos the public should view to assist in the case. Suspect #1 is seen in the photos wearing a dark hat. Suspect #2 is wearing a white hat. DesLauriers said Suspect #2 is seen setting down a bag in front of a restaurant at the site of the second explosion. Bank Robbery Similarities in Des Plaines, Oak Brook, Buffalo Grove Investigated

The FBI and local law enforcement are reviewing a possible connection between three bank robberies in the Chicago suburbs.

Law enforcement suspects the same man may have robbed banks in Buffalo Grove, Oak Brook and Des Plaines during the last two-and-a-half weeks. The FBI and local authorities are investigating the incidents. Joan Hyde, spokesperson for the FBI, said agents suspect the same man robbed banks in Des Plaines and Buffalo Grove. “Based on the physical appearance and the way he carries out the robberies, agents investigating the case believe that the two could be linked,” Hyde said. The FBI is also reviewing whether or not the same man carried out another bank robbery in Oak Brook. “[Agents are] still trying to sort out whether they can attribute all three to the same individual,” Hyde said. The FBI recently released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report, which compiles information from local law enforcement about violent crimes and property crimes in their communities. Use the pull-down menu to find your city or town. Violent crimes and property crimes are listed as totals, and are then broken down into several categories. Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault are all categories of violent crimes. Burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson are all categories of property crimes. FBI: Larceny-Theft is Most Common Property Crime in Libertyville, Vernon Hills

The FBI recently released its 2011 Crime in the United States report, which details property and violent crimes that were reported to law enforcement across the country.

Recently-released crime reports from the FBI show that the most common property crimes in both Libertyville and Vernon Hills in 2011 were larceny-related. Property crimes, according to the FBI, include burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson. In 2011, there were 350 reports of property crime in Libertyville, including 287 reports of larceny-theft and 56 burglary reports. There were 588 property crime reports in Vernon Hills in 2011, including 535 larceny-theft reports and 51 burglary reports. According to an FBI press release on their 2011 Crime in the United States report, there were 1,203,564 violent crimes (murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault) reported to law enforcement across the country. FBI Charges Libertyville Man With Stealing Trade Secrets

Chunlai Yang, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was arrested July 1 in Chicago.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation charged a 49-year-old Libertyville resident with theft of trade secrets on July 1, according to a press release. FBI agents took Chunlai Yang into custody without incident at the CME office, 550 W. Washington St., Chicago, where Yang worked as a senior software engineer. Yang is charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of theft of trade secrets, which is a felony offense. If convicted, Yang faces a sentence of as much as 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. According to the complaint, Yang has been employed at CME since 2000, and is responsible for writing computer code. Beginning in May, CME security personnel began …
