Fodrak's Kicks Off 25th Anniversary Year

The Libertyville restaurant held an all-day celebration Dec. 7.

Fodrak’s Gyros and Ribs in Libertyville and owner Jim Lappas started their 25th Anniversary Year on Dec. 7 with an all-day celebration.  Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler stopped by to help cut the anniversary cake. Rich Maisel of Mettawa was announced as the winner of the contest for Fodrak’s custom guitar. Entries came from Libertyville and nearby communities with contestants ranging in age from 8 to over 60. Customers were surprised throughout the day with gifts. Every 25th customer received a custom Fodrak’s hoodie. Other customers were surprised with coolers, Fodrak’s custom t-shirts and gift certificates. The kitchen ran out of the Surf ‘n Turf Anniversary Special early in the evening. Were you born on Feb. 29? A Libertyville gyro and ribs restaurant wants to help you to celebrate. Fodrak’s, 327 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, will be giving people with a leap year birthdate a $60-value catering package containing any food from the menu on any day before March 31, 2012. “It rarely happens, so why not,” said owner Jim Lappas when asked why he decided to offer a leap year birthday present. This will be the first time the 25-year-old store offers promotion. People with a leap year birthday can stop in Fodrak’s on Feb. 29, ask for Flavio, show him your identification with the leap year birthdate, and Flavio will arrange the catering package. “The idea came out of the blue.
