New Medicare database shows how hospitals across serving the Chicago area — and the rest of the nation — compare for care. Wait times at Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville are less than the state average.
If you go to the emergency room at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, how long will it take before you see a healthcare professional? The federal government says 22 minutes on average, 11 minutes less than the state average according to a new database causing some hospital officials nationwide to cringe. At Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, the average ER wait time is 27 minutes, while at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, patients can expect to wait 66 minutes, which is double the state and national average. Bring a little Christmas cheer to those young and old who will be spending this holiday in the hospital by donating an ornament to HOPE Ornaments.
Living with a high blood pressure disease that has caused blackouts and seizures, Lyzzi Elliott, 28, of Grayslake, has spent several holidays in a place no one wants to be—a hospital. She's made it her mission to bring Christmas cheer to others in the same situation, by collecting holiday ornaments to donate to hospitals throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. Elliott said she was inspired to establish HOPE Ornaments seven years ago after bringing an ornament to her friend's daughter, who was hospitalized with leukemia. Advocate Condell Medical Center has dedicated a Legacy of Life Wall to honor patients who have saved lives through organ donation. In early July, nearly 20 families were invited to the private dedication of the wall, which lists the names of the donors and the dates of their gifts. The Legacy of Life Wall commemorates those who are no longer with us, but whose legacy lives on in others. Some saved a life or lives through organ donation. Others made a lasting impact on those around them, inspiring family and friends to make a charitable gift to Advocate Condell Medical Center in their memory.
