Barrington High School Student Sells Christmas CDs for Newtown

A Barrington High School student is going above and beyond to help the community of Newtown, Conn. heal from the tragic school shooting that happened last week. Lydia Gabriel, a freshman at BHS just knew she wanted to do something to help when she heard about the 27 people killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14. “I always loved elementary school and when I heard about the people in Connecticut, I was just so upset and heartbroken,” she said. Gabriel, a member of the Barrington High School choir, was singing Christmas songs when something clicked. “I said, maybe I could make a CD of traditional Christmas songs and give a CD to them, and donate money I raise to Connecticut,” she said.
