For the past 10 years, I have had the honor and privilege to work closely with Jeff Braiman. Given my up close and personal experiences with Jeff, I can unequivocally say that he will be an outstanding Judge for Lake County.  If there were two words to describe Jeff and to demonstrate why he would be an exceptional Judge, those words would be Independence and Integrity. During Board deliberations, Jeff always listens to the facts at hand and never comes to the table with a preconceived opinion. This is a critical trait for someone who will be entrusted with the responsibilities of justice and ensuring that each and everyone of us is treated fairly and equitably. Judge Offers Insight into Lake County Court System

Judge Daniel Shanes discusses finances, court services and changing times.

Buffalo Grove business representatives got an insider’s perspective on Lake County’s judicial system this month when Judge Daniel Shanes spoke at a Buffalo Grove Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Lake County employs 13 circuit court judges and 24 associate judges, Shanes said. In addition to the main courthouse in Waukegan, the system includes a juvenile court and jail and three traffic court branches. Lake County includes specialized courts for drug offenders and mental health cases, and the economy also has created a demand in another area. “We have three judges hearing mortgage foreclosures now. We didn’t need to do that three years ago,” Shanes said. Shanes noted that television portrayals of courts don’t show the behind-the-scenes …
