Because of this, a movement arose to "get Illinois out of the mud," according to the Lake County Division of Transportation. At that time, roads within the state of Illinois were the responsibility of the individual townships. Under the Tice Act of 1913, the responsibility for building the road system shifted from the township to the county, under the direction of a county superintendent of highways. LCDOT will be adding …

Since 2008, thanks to the leadership of the County Board, Lake County has participated in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Community Rating System (CRS) program. Based on Lake County's rating, residents who meet certain requirements are eligible for savings on flood insurance premiums. Drivers that travel Peterson Road, in the central area of the county near Grayslake and Round Lake Park, will soon see a different intersection at Illinois Route 60. The intersection has been relocated and reconstructed slightly to the southeast in order to add new turn lanes and traffic signals. The intersection improvements and road realignment will help with the common bottle neck traffic that occurs there. The new intersection will open to traffic on Sept. 1. The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) explained that in order to make these improvements, the intersection had to be relocated away from Squaw Creek, which is adjacent to the existing intersection. LCDOT also installed a new traffic signal for Saddlebrook residents …

Motorola will keep its headquarters in Libertyville.
Libertyville Mayor Terry Weppler says Google’s $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. is good for the village. “I talked to both the government affair officers from Google and Motorola today, and I think it’s going to be a good thing. There are no plans to move the (Motorola) headquarters out of Libertyville,” Weppler said. “They are not going to guarantee that it’s going to be here forever, but they gave no indication that it was. Could it be moved in the future? Of course.” Libertyville does not receive any sales tax from Motorola because the company’s handsets are not built in the community, but Motorola benefits the community in several ways. “Number One, a lot of our residents work for Motorola, so we didn’t have…
