The Libertyville Golf Course will hold its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18 featuring a $1 million hole-in-one contest, activities for kids and free pizza and soda. Under a 10-year lease agreement with the Village of Libertyville, the golf course is managed and operated by the BCS Golf Group-Studio 59, which is upgrading the facility to include new synthetic greens, tees and practice area. "This isn't your father's AstroTurf," said Studio 59 owner, Blair Subry on the Studio 59 website. The Libertyville Golf Course will soon be operated by Wauconda-based BCS Golf, LLC. Trustees voted Jan. 8 to approve a lease agreement with BCS to operate the Libertyville Golf Course in exchange for rental payments of $20,000 per year for the first 10 years, and $25,000 per year for a second, optional 10 years. Under the agreement, BCS will pay the village 10 percent of any gross earnings that exceed $850,000.
