Cop Who Spots House Fire Helps Prevent Total Loss

Libertyville police officer driving past the house could hear the smoke detectors.

A Libertyville police officer who was in the right place at the right time early Saturday morning helped prevent a fire from totally destroying a home at Park Avenue and Milwaukee Road, reported the Daily Herald. The unidentified police officer saw smoke and heard smoke detectors going off at the home at about 1 a.m. Saturday and called the Libertyville Fire Department. Police swept the home and found no one inside. A cat was rescued, though two birds died, according to the Daily Herald.
